Default Oh well...

Bought a refurb PCM from a vendor that advertises on this site. Put it in today and, it wouldn't even start the truck unless I held the accelerator down and would die when I tried to idle.

Put the old one back in and it started right up.

Strike one...

Was the negative battery cable disconnected when you replaced the PCM? Just curious.

Where was that? " Bought a refurb PCM from a vendor that advertises on this site". I'm thinking you got a bad one , or it just simply needs to be flashed again.

They usually show their ad at the very top of the page. I talked with them and we're going to do an exchange.

I'm just bummed at my luck with purchases lately. Seems I have to return everything at least once!

Think someone forgot to program the idle speed into it.

Default Last update...hopefully!

Well, I got another replacement PCM from the company and, so far, after a few hundred miles, it's running fine and no stalls.

Guess I finally found the problem (knock on wood).

Thanks to all that replied for your help!

I have seen more problems with PCMs having to be exchanged on these Rams and other vehicles as well. Seems people think these are more problematic than they are.

You might also want to be safe and check the grounds. I even found several more on my truck today that I did not know was there...low on the driver side inner fender near the radiator support - about 8 wires going to it. A loose ground to a circuit in the PCM could possily cause a malfuntion in the PCM. Loose grounds can also cause the engine to die.

Today, coming into work, it shut off again. Same deal. It shuts off, won't start up until about a minute/minute and a half later and then runs fine.

What's next....replace PCM? I found places where I can get refurbished ones for about $350 with warrenty.

Guess I'll just keep throwing money at it since it's not giving me any codes or hints as to what's causing this.

so.....what happened? I have same problem.

Erm, 12 year old thread. Don't expect an answer....

Start your own thread, tell us what you are driving, what the symptoms are, and any troubleshooting you have done/parts you have replaced.
