Not the best choice, but not the worst either. If you still have the receipt return it under warranty. And make sure you disconnect the negative battery cable before replacing it. As a matter of fact, maybe try resetting the PCM now. Never know, might help.

That just involves removing the negative cable right? Havent done it with the sole intent of resetting the pcm.

Cut the cat out, put in a straight pipe and be done with it. (Just for HeyYou and VW!)

Correct. It will reset while you clean or replace the part. If you just want to reset the PCM, disconnect the negative cable and turn on your headlights for a few seconds. Then turn them off and reconnect battery cable.

they are a bitch to remove... I did mine a few weeks ago...you have to wiggle it past the rubber grommet and it does pull right out.... (mine didnt fix my misfire at the time btw) they are only $22 shipped from ebay BTW... advance wanted like $45 I think..
and resetting the PCM will do nothing for replacing the CPS....

Alright thanks zman.

@lonewolf: i would if i had the money, id have long tubes and a full exhaust by now, i didnt realize i had a o2 sim on my truck already, thats what has been holding me back. Right now my exhaust is stock manifolds, stock y-pipe/cat with the factory piping up to the first hangar (the one incorporated in the trans crossmember) after that theres nothing lol

The first time i did it wasnt so bad, its only been in there for 3-4k miles, So it should be fairly easy

Alrighty problem has been resolved by replacing the crankposition sensor. Thanks to everyone for your help and infinite wisdom.
