Midway Through Plenum Repair
my pcv wouldn't come out of the rubber grommet in the valve cover. the grommet was cooked hard as a rock and i had to cut it out with a utility knife.
don't break the pcv off, or it could fall possibly fall down into the valve cover. unlikely if the sob won't come out, but that'd be my luck.

[quote=Ham Bone;2759738]Are you talking about the old gasket for the plenum plate or the manifold gaskets? The old plenum gasket was completely gone, not a piece to be found.

well the picture you put up shows otherwise...the plenum gasket looks to be in tact on the plenum plate....

[QUOTE=Augiedoggy;2759839]Well the picture is misleading, I looked at it pretty close, wanting to put a pic up of the gasket and how bad it was, but I couldn't find anything. What you're seeing is probably just gunk
[QUOTE=Ham Bone;2759866]Looked at the pic and it sure looks like the gasket is still there.
You do realize the gasket is between the plate and the intake, right. Not trying to be a smartass but looked at your pic again and the gasket is on there. I can even see the little rubberized strip that runs around the center of the gasket...
There is one spot where the gasket is slightly displaced, but, looking at the inside of the manifold itself, the heaviest oil deposits are in the rear, exactly where you would expect to see oil accumulate from a blown gasket.
Also, keep in mind, the main problem is the pan bolts are too long.... so, the gasket could look just fine, and be perfectly in place, but, still not seal properly, as you could not get the correct torque on the plate.

Well maybe there is some gasket, but I swear I couldn't find the slightest trace of it. I think it's just the glare from the light and the angle I took the picture. I'll go check it tomorrow, I still have the plate
