Damn, been following this thread with interest, its a job I can see myself having to do if I keep my truck. My only thoughts are the plastigauge as well. Although upside down and under the truck, this is easier said than done.

Oversize bearings are a natural next step, b ut using standard bearings he was already binding crank. That's wahy I asked if he used the palastigauge to see what the crank is going. If it is tight enough to be binding, pressure ought to be pretty good! But a high interferance fit will wear them ttoo quickly.

But the plastigauge may show that there is wear on the rods or mains that may require thincker bearings....or tighten down some more. WIthout measuring, one is only guessing. And guessing resluted in low oil pressure still. I have never been one for masking the symptom with a patch while not addressing the root cause of the problem. Background, I suppose....

Circumstances with my traveling job and restricted days to do the job is why I was forced to guess on the ebaring size other wise I would have made sure...

At this point, I'm ready to just swap in a reman long block and be done with it... Bearings and some extra tools I needed were around $200... I feel like I will be nickel and diming myself to death if I keep going

The cylinder walls have lost their cross hatching and look very smooth from under the truck, the whole bottom end is covered in an oil sludge/gunk that is tough to clean up even with brake cleaner...

After adding the 20w-50 and driving it to a good sitting spot a town over (45 mi.) until I get home to work on it again- its oil pressure was under 10 psi almost the whole time and the water temp was bouncing from 210-230F on the stock gauge
