Good luck, Wildman. Hopefully, the two of you can work it out so that things won't have to come down to a divorce. A good marriage is certainly a lot of work!

Well I got working on the engine today and started pulling the pistons out so I could clean the cylinders and pistons. Man were these pistons tight in the block. I started off pulling #1 piston and had fun getting it to come out. Start trying to push the #2 piston out and get the piston to the top of the cylinder and have my hand over the hole to catch the piston as it comes out. Well I am trying to push down with one had using a rubber handled hammer to push on the connecting rod. Just as the piston comes out I drop it!! The damn thing lands on it's side and breaks a small piece right off.

I almost decided to stop at this point but decided to push on and pull the rest of the pistons.

What does everyone think of the way these bearings look? Good? Bad? Reuse or Replace?

Here is how the block turned out as far as the paint job goes. I also used a few coats of clear this time. I think the block looks awesome.

So I looked up the Keith Black pistons and can get a replacement piston from Summit for $70. Also looking at the spec's on the piston with the Odessa heads which has a 62cc combustion chamber I'll have a 9.9 compression ratio. That is perfect for me. So now I'm in a holding pattern until I get the new piston from Summit.

So give me some feedback on how you all think the bearings look.

Spec them. If theyre good use em.

Of course a set Of rod bearings isn't too expensive. And is nice insurance.

From what I see in the photos and given that you've gone this far into it, I'd say replace the rod bearings. How do the mains look?

I gotta agree with this sentiment. It is NEVER going to get any easier. Replace ALL the bearings. (well, see what the cam bearings look like, and decide from there. )

The engine only has 8,000 miles on it so can I take it I don't need to do the rings? I guess I was more wondering what used bearings should look like? Does the silver finish that is on new bearings come off pretty much right after the engine starts?

I'll shoot some pic's of the cam bearings and get you all's opinion on them. My machine shop said unless they were really bad there wasn't any reason to replace them.
