5.9 Rebuild on the cheap: Now Just Empty Every Pocket build.
Well it never fails that something will always go wrong or be screwed up.
I had gotten all my studs and guide plates installed and was ready to install the rocker arms only to find out that two of the polylocks are shorter than the rest of them . I tightened them down to see if they would work but nope they hit the body of the rockers. Good thing is I had ordered the Scorpion roller rockers from Summit Racing so I called them and told them my problem. Got two new polylocks headed my way so for now I'm going to install all the rockers expect the last two. Then as soon as the new polylocks get here I'll finish the install and then I can install my valve covers.

Well there was actually some progress made on my engine yesterday and a little time after midnight too. I didn't feel like stopping so I worked on the engine til about 1:30AM finally quit when I got the air cleaner installed.
So here is all the studs and guide plates installed.

I had told you about the polylock problem with two of them being too short.

You can see how the body of the rockers would hit the cap of the polylock.
Next on the list to do was to adjust the rockers by taking all the valve lash out and adding 1/2-1 turn past. I went with 1/2 a turn per Merc's advice.

I got the left bank done and then moved on to the right bank.

I did all the cylinders expect for #8. Have to wait for the correct polylocks to get here and then I can finish that job. Next I installed the valve covers with these knurled hold down bolts. Of course they are blue too. Just a little more bling for my engine. I also got a billet breather and PCV valve.

Looking darn good if I do say so myself.

Because I'd gotten this far I went and took the throttle body off the old engine so I could see what the engine was going to look like with the air cleaner installed. Now I didn't install the TB spacer because I didn't have long enough bolts. I am going to run the spacer so that I'll have a place to mount the IAT sensor. I'm just going to drill and tap the spacer. Should work out great I think. Now for some bling shots .........................

Sweet looking engine I got there. I can't wait to get it installed so I can see how it runs and see what kind of power it's going to put out. I'm going to pull my tranny first and go thru it and also add a shift kit while I'm at it.
So I'll add posts as I go along but if we get an early winter it won't be til spring before I'm done with this project.

Keeping us all on the edge of our seats eh? Yeah, we see how ya are.
Going thru the trans really isn't a bad idea. Even if it does makes us wait to see how the new engine performs.......
Lookin' REALLY good though.
Nice work.

Thanks HeyYou,
I'm not doing it on purpose I had really thought I was going to be farther along with this project but I just wasn't getting stuff done as fast as planned.
