So today started off with my thinking I'd be posting pictures of me getting the cam degreed and having that part of this done.
So I started off doing a test fit with the crankshaft adapter just to make sure it fits.
Next I got the piston stop installed
Then I got the cam out and cleaned the coating off they install to keep it from rusting with some brake clean. Then wiped it down and found a long bolt to use as a handle to help me guise the cam into place.
Then I used assembly lube on the distributor gear and rear cam journal and started to guide the cam into the engine.
As each lobe came up to the engine I would apply assembly lube to the journal and a light amount on the cam lobes.
Cam is installed and it's time to get the timing chain, tensioner, and bolts out to get ready to install the timing chain & gears.
And then I realize with all the parts I've ordered for this DANG NAB engine I'd not ordered a new woodruff key for the camshaft sprocket. And of course I don't have a used one either because I'd left it in the old cam I'd sold to the guy I'd given my old engine to.
And if I order it online it won't be here until next Friday and all the parts stores are closed today. So I'll call around Saturday to see if I can find one locally and if not I'll have to order it online.
Damn, I don't have any spare dodge parts anymore or I'd bring it to ya.
When I swapped blocks with you I'd pulled the Comp Cam out and had it sitting here trying to sell it but no one ever bit. So then when I gave my old engine & trans away the guy I'd gave it to bought the cam, 52MM TB & HS roller rockers I had. And of course I forgot to pull the woodruff key out of the cam. Same as I forgot to grab the little bracket that the TV cable spring mounts to. So I'm gunna have to fab up something since it's a discontinued part. But I have the spec's on the size of it so I should be able to find one tomorrow.

I can pull you a tv cable bracket and ship it. How are you adjusting the valves? That's what I struggle with.

That would be great & thanks.
I haven't gotten to the valves yet but I have adjustable roller rocker arms & will do the adjustment as explained in a few videos I've watched. Take them down to zero lash and then a 1/2 turn more if you're running 3/8" studs.
I've got to get the cam degreed and checked to make sure it has the lift as advertised. Then Tuesday my adjustable push rods will be here so I can measure for length and I'll order the push rods I need.
