First you need to check that your rocker geometry is correct.

Then you can adjust your rockers for valve lash.

After trying to find the camshaft woodruff key locally I finally said SCREW IT and ordered one from HiPoTek since the part number from Mopar is discontinued. So I'm on hold until that package gets here. I had thought I'd be measuring my push rod length now and ordering my new push rods. The Comp Cams push rod length checkers came in today.

Stock push rods are 6.7" in length so I got these that are 6.8-7.8" long. Hope I didn't shoot myself in the foot by not getting ones that could go shorter. Only time will tell.

No one makes a FANCY DANCY oil pump priming tool for our MOPAR engines so I ordered this instead.

It's a oil pump priming tool just doesn't have a sleeve to hold it centered in the distributer hole.

Not Gen 2 Ram related but I also got this steering setup for the Jeep becasue the old stock bushing had melted on my Jeep. A company called Red Rock OffRoad sells this steering shaft kit for their Hemi swaps so I don't see any reason why it won't work for my swap also.

Well figured I'd just give a quick update. I ordered the woodruff key I need from HiPoTek along with some other parts and they'll be here Wednesday. So I'm stuck again waiting for parts to arrive. Once the key arrives I will get back to assembling the engine.

Thanks for everyone's help on this.

Finally got the woodruff key I need so tomorrow I'll get back to working on assembling the engine.

The one on top is the one I'd found online that was suppose to fit and then the lower one is the actual one I need.

And then the key I needed on top of the one from online that wasn't the correct size.

It's all good. I'm not close to needing it yet.

So I started on the engine assembly again today. Cam key got installed first.

Then a little Lock-tite for the cam thrust plate/tensioner.

Installed the thrust plate/tensioner.

Then the timing gears and chain.

All installed

Just to show the difference between my old degree wheel and the new one. Yes the new one is for us OLD GUYS who can't see so good anymore.

Got the degree wheel installed and the pointer setup. The pointer is a old wire clothes hanger.

Ready to find TDC of my #1 cylinder.

So installed the piston stop.

To start I set the degree wheel at 0* to figure out where my TDC was.

Rotated the engine back the other direction and ended up on 20* so I divided that in half and brought the degree wheel to 10* and rotated the engine back the other direction.

That got me to about 9.5* so rotated the engine back the other direction.

I ended up at 10.5* so I adjusted the degree wheel .05* and had it at 10* both direction. So TDC is right there at 0*.

Tomorrow I'll start in on verifying the cam lobe center and then the other specs just to make sure everything is correct.

Just so I understand everything I read for the past 2-3 hours. You started this build back in 13 and it is now 21 and you had a motor almost complete and decided to trade sell to another guy for a 408 stroker and started all over again. that first motor you had done back around page 23 was absolutely stunning. But I guess it made sense for you to sell or swap out for the stroker since that is what your intention was back in 13. Hate'd to read what happen to you around page 45 or so with the family. I definitely agree that the title needs changing out also. Man, you must have the patience of a elephant to be going this long. I will follow to the end because I am hooked now....Also, Thank you for serving our country. I appreciate all that the veterans have done for me to be able to live in this country.
