Did you use the gapless rings? I seem to recall you were considering that some time ago.

I still use my 'wrap around the piston' ring compressor. It has a toothed band around it, so, tighten it up with a 1/4 inch ratchet, and tap the pistons down. Works great.

Yes I did do the gapless Total Seal piston rings. The top ring was the gapless one. Took a while to get all the rings gapped and done properly.

Nothing wrong with the old types of ring compressors but I figured I'd try something new.

An excuse to buy another tool?

Would love to see what compression numbers look like with those rings.

Once it's running and I am done with breaking it in I'll do a compression test for you. I'm sure I'll be pulling the plugs to check them as I'm working on getting the engine tune right.

This is from Total Seals website.

After watching a ton of videos on How to Degree a Cam I gathered that I hadn't been doing things right when I've done this before so I made a little list of parts I needed and ordered up the stuff so I can degree my cam properly. Being a stroker engine I felt it was a good idea to do this with how close the tolerances are between the heads/valves & pistons. Plus just knowing it's installed 100% correctly for piece of mind. So I'm waiting until next Monday to get back at working on the engine.

It's good to see it going back together.

Thanks. It's been a long slow road but I'm getting there. Had really hoped to have it running and driving by now but it just wasn't going to happen.

Just one that will allow me to go 4* retarded or advanced. So my crankshaft gear for the timing chain has 3 slots in it.

I might need to look at getting a new timing gear set that offers more adjustability.
