If you have O2 sensors, it'll help.... but, only once the engine achieves closed loop. And stepping on the gas too hard will drop you out.
I'm not sure I'd want to run it long enough to achieve closed loop. One thing that has been suggested is a leak in the intake manifold on the drivers side causing it to run lean. But I would think if it was leaking it wouldn't run as well as it does.
But going to try some brake clean on it to see if I get any changes in RPM.
Glowing headers usually implies a lean condition, or, timing to far advanced. (or both...) Given your PCM is trying to provide fuel for a 5.2.... I am going to guess it's runnin' rather lean. Get the right tune on there before you run it much more.

Yes 100% agree. I'm talking with Ryan at FRP already about a tune. I don't plan on running again until I get the tune other than to check for vacuum leaks on the intake manifold and will only run it for a short time.

I am really lookin' forward to hearing how much fun that thing is gonna be out on the trail.
