Main power is losing it's connection. Check the battery cables on the battery and to where they connect on the engine. My guess is you have a loose ground cable.

Grab to 01 service manual from the FAQ section here, it's in the service manual thread. Go to the wiring diagram section, and look up ground locations. Clean all of them that have anything to do with running the engine, or the PCM. Also, try swapping the ASD relay, with the horn relay.

I swaped the relays and cleaned all the grounds and it still does it.
It is a lot worse when it is cold.

Does the truck run ok at larger throttle openings?

Have you cleaned the throttle body??? (the iac well likes to clog with crap, and then IAC doesn't work worth beans.)

No i did not try that because it acts like its an electical problem. When you open the throtle the cel goes on and off as the engine does.
when the cel comes on it either shuts off for a split second and rite back on or dies just like shutting the key off. and also when the code reader is pluged in it shuts it off too.
would the pcm do that?

Sure sounds like a control issue, but i was starting to think about going back from there to fuel pressure to star eliminating possibilities, so knowing how it reacts at half to full throttle may help....

It sounds for all the world like a bad connection somewhere. But, you have been thru all that..... Did you pull the connectors off the pcm, and inspect those as well? (disconnect battery first....)
