So, here is the update today: Got the alternator, a/c comp, and mounting bracket above bypass hose removed. Almost have the plenum removed, just need to loosen two more bolts. They didn't need any penetrating oil, because so much oil had leaked out of the plenum that the screws had oil all of the way down. All of the front part of the plenum gasket is gone, but the back seems to still be there because there is some oil sitting back there. More pictures coming next week...

Ok, here are some more pictures. I decided to take off the hood so that I could quit banging my head up against that cold steel hood. Boy that is a heavy hood too! I also decided to pull the heads and have the valves and valve seats ground and the whole head cleaned. So off comes the exhaust manifold and valve covers too..
Hood off...
Plenum removed... (sorry I couldn't get a clearer picture)
Close up of valve pushrods etc.
Plenum off of the truck
Pool of oil in the plenum
The belly pan
The pan gasket was not completely gone yet, but it was bulging out the sides in two places. The cylinder port gasket was leaking in a spot or two as well. I have since painted the plenum and removed the valve covers, so more pics coming later.

They are Cooper Discoverer S/T MAXX 10 ply. We had the Cooper Discoverer S/T-C 8 ply on it before and they lasted 6 years. The tires we have now are just the new version of the tires we had before. So a slightly different tread pattern, they now have sidewall tread as well. Great tires! They are smooth, make very little noise, and don't impact MPG noticeably. As a side note, just to show how much I like Cooper tires, we had the s/t-c for 6 years and never had a flat, and we have 6 miles gravel roads to get to our place.
