Thanks for all the feedback. I'm going to try that with the bolts today.

Seems work is content on having me pick up the slack of others, keeping me from 0730 until 2100, and sending me off on various taskings... I am not even sure if I'll get the engine put back together before winter at this rate. I'll see what I can do before leaving on Sunday for 2 weeks and put up some pictures.

Does this look like an acceptable setup?

Going clockwise from bottom left the whole way around... That is a black plug. It looks as if there is a hole in the middle, but it is more of a recess than anything else. Left back is a Mopar air breather. Right back is the PCV w/grommet and the front left is the oil fill cap. Any issues with this?

Looks alight, I went with a chrome Mopar push in breather cap and kept the hose to the air box. If you start to see oil under or around that air breather put back on the org hose and breather set up.

Ack. Thanks. Going to throw on the HS 1.7's now then and then put on the valve covers.

I'll save the rear main seal/new oil pump until I have more time. Sucks that I've had to leave the engine in this state for so long and will be leaving it for another 2 weeks.

Get a can of spray marine fogging oil/storage seal and spray down the motor with it, inside outside it won't hurt it.

Edit: Keep all the old air breather stuff you will need it for Aircare.

Starting to think this engine is conspiring against me. Tried getting those bolts out the method HeyYou suggested and it seemed like it was working when suddenly one snapped. Again. MUCH closer to the gasket surface now. So.... thoughts on how to get it out now? Clearly using liquid wrench isn't going to do it and I'm not even confident I can get a vice grip on what is left.

Drill it and use EZ out. About the only option left.

Looks good....from cleaning heads, valley, and timing cover, to the HS rockers and Magnum Valve covers.

Drilling out/EZ out... never done this before. I _DO_ have a set of bits that I think would be what you call an easy out. They counter-sink I think is the best way to describe them and force the bolt out, mind you, I used them on a stripped bolt with the head still attached

Left hand drill bits? (and no, I am not kidding. )

Yeah, the bolts are rather brittle...... I ended up drilling pilot holes all the way thru mine, and then blowing the rest out with a torch...... run a tap thru the wholes to clean them up, and all was good.....

Drill as much as you can out, without trashing the threads, than try the easy-out. Don't break the easy out though..... pain in the keester if you do.
