Yep. Spray as much as you can OUT of the engine, wash the rest down the oil drain holes, with the oil pan off, it will run right out, and clean out other stuff on the way down. Probably wouldn't hurt to pull the intake, and clean that area as well. (and fix the plenum if you haven't already)

Please have some sort of drip tray under the engine while you do this......

thats a great suggestion thanks, what should i do with the oil pump and pick up tube, replace or would cleaning be good for now

If the funds are available I'd get a new oil pump/pickup tube. Why chance it?

BUT, if there's nothing wrong with it now, you can inspect the pickup tube/screen once you have the pan off, you could probably leave it alone....

yea one more question bout doing this, wont the brake clean dry up my valve seals

wont the brake clean dry up my valve seals though

i was told the same thing by my dad and old auto shop teacher. drain oil fill with Kerosene or Diesel and run engine for about a minute then drain Kerosene or Diesel, change filter add oil and drive around the block and then do another oil and filter change.

I've seen too many engines smoked by such behavior.......

As for the valve seals, they are probably already dried up. Good chance to change 'em out here......

Damn.. that sucks.. looks like an engine after running Pennzoil and never changing the oil.. :X

With all of the ****-ant fixes you guys are suggesting, his best bet is to pull the engine and do a complete refurbishment of it.
