Default Automatic to Manual Transmission swap in 2nd gen Ram

OKAY,
So what Im about to be doing is swapping an automatic transmission for a manual transmission. The Automatic transmission is blown, and is currently sitting in a 2001 Ram 2500 quad cab short bed... Now, I have a donor truck, which is a 1995 ram 1500 single cab short bed with a 5 speed... Both trucks are 4x4 and have the 318 engine. My gut tells me that my 5 speed should match up fine in place of the auto.. But I want to make sure it will before I get in to deep. I am absolutely determined too do this. Which is to say, if the manual transmission I have doesn't fit, can someone tell me which Manual transmission would match?
Thanks a lot!

edit...
I'm fairly certain any year truck (that is a 2nd gen) would work. Just have to swap all the parts over to your truck, and have PCM flashed.

Here's a good DIY:

^^^ Exactly.

Plan on having the flywheel resurfaced or replaced, and don't bother using the clutch already in the 1500. Get a new clutch kit, throwout, and pilot bearing.

Aren't there some differences between a '95 and '01 auto transmission?

Sure, '95 being RH and '01 RE. But op is going to replace auto with manual, so it doesn't matter. Probably there'll be some codes that needs to be taken care of.

if he does indeed have a 2500, he will need to get a flywheel for the 360, 318 flywheel will destroy the engine.

Dang guys, thanks for all the info! You all have been wicked helpful.
Now, to respond to the top post, I am like 90% positive that it is a 318. but I'll double check. If it is a 360, I assume I should get the appropriate fly wheel and clutch kit in order to make it all come together?
