I have a 98 dodge ram1500. I was having heat issues, at best all I could get was luke warm air. I went to a buddy's house to check it out as he is a good mechanic. We flushed the heater core, and burped the system to no avail then he noticed the a/c condenser was sweating, so we unplugged it and low and behold I had heat. He has no idea why the air was running at the same time as the heat, can anybody shed any light in that subject? Other wise I'll have to leave the condenser unplugged all winter and then plug it in again next spring, but I would rather the operating system be right.
A/C condensor? You mean compressor? If so, the compressor will cycle/turn on and off once in a while Normal . If it just keeps running constantly that's a problem.
We didn't check it while we we're there, but I would say it runs constantly because I've had the truck for three years now and have never had good heat in the winter, and when we unplugged the condenser the heat was hot enough to run me out of the truck on my way home. Do you have any ideas?
I think I'd take the HVAC control module out (switch unit on dash) and check it out. Seems to me that something is wrong with the selector switch, at least that where I'd start.
