I just wanted to double check that you are checking your fluid to while in neutral and not park. I know a few people that have thought their tranny was full and where wrong because they had the truck in park and not neutral.

I must have got lucky, my '98 had 148k and no trans issues when i sold it. My current '00 Ram has 100k (almost) and has had no trans issues.

However i did replace the water pump and steering box on BOTH!

Did you delete the anti-drainback check valve? And do you detect a bit of a whirring sound while it's sitting there thinking about maybe going into gear today?

If so, the workaround is to start the thing in Neutral and let it run for 30-45 seconds to fill the torque converter before shifting to a drive gear, and the fix is to install a remote ATF filter to get that anti-drainback functionality back. Oh, and when I say to start it in Neutral, I don't mean start in Park then shift to Neutral. Shift into Neutral before turning the key.

Try that starting in Neutral and waiting thing. If it does the trick, install the remote filter. If it doesn't... told ya so!

Both told ya so's are meant in good fun.
