Default Diesel Power

I would like to know if anyone knows if it is a doable task to install a 1989 cummings turbo diesel engine in my 1999 sport. Also what are the chances that the diesel motor will hook up to my current 5.9l automatic trans.

There are many threads on a diesel swap. Use the search function and type in "Diesel swap". For example:

Dig in and do your research.

Your 46RE would be left in little pieces all over the road, even if it did bolt up...which I don't think it would. Since good running Cummins 2nd gens are easily found in the $3k-$5k range, it would be cheaper and far less stressful to sell what you have and buy a Cummins truck.

Here's an older ad, but they pop up and sell around here all the time in that price range.

I owe nothing on my truck, have put a bunch of money into it, and am getting an 89 with a Cummings turbo diesel for free with a five speed. So my thoughts that buying a already diesel truck would be not worth it.

ok well a CUMMINS will tear up your auto tranny like Honey Boo boo rips apart a buffet... The swap is way more involved then pulling your motor and dropping that Cummins in there... Read up on it more before just trying to jump into it.. And if you are getting the truck for free just drive that.. makes more sense then spending who knows how much money on swapping it out

How the heck did you pull that off???? Use the 5 speed. It will be much simpler, and better too. Autos suck.
