If you aren't going to use the EGR, just cut the entire center divider out. They were eliminated on the 98's in any event. (or was it 99?)

i still have more grinding and material to remove. i just took a bit of a break. build up a bit more patience plus i just have not got back at it since i had to clean up my mess for Easter dinner so that we could play pool. i did a bit of smoothing around the bosses but not gone too crazy yet. i was almost thinking about getting the new gasket and grinding the port to match. from the looks of it there is lots of material that can be removed.

Gasket matching sure wouldn't hurt you any.

Mine has a similar amount of "extra" material around the gasket openings. Since I already have it off, and it is free, I think I'll do it. Some people say that the gains arent worth the time, others swear by it. A little of my time and a couple of beers is worth it to find out for myself.

Wont deleting the EGR freak out my PCM? I am fine with deleting it, if possible and cost effective, because I hate the thought of my engine eating its own feces.

if you got the time it is worth a shot. if all else fails it makes your intake a bit lighter.

because of where i live and how new my ramcharger is i pretty much have to hook the egr up but i don't think it does much.

Some folks have bypassed egr, and not gotten any codes. Others get them once in a while.

Another alternative would be upgrading to a 96 or 97 OBDII system, that doesn't use it anyway..... also give you the ability to flash program your PCM....... worth considering anyway.

So what would I do to delete the EGR with the least amount of PCM issues? Plug the EGR port? Need to leave the EGR hooked up, just not plumbed in?
