Bad 02 sensors from blown plenum. 96 has EGR I think and could affect mileage along with old spark plugs,etc... I get 11 to 12 city when it's warmer outside and have gotten14.4 on strictly highway run.

If you are only getting 8 MPG... there IS something wrong. "down on power" is HIGHLY subjective...... how long have you owned the truck? Have you fixed the plenum yet? How many miles on it? How old is the cap/rotor??

The plenum is something you need to at least check..... It is just about a universal failure on the dodges. If you are over 100K miles, it's time to change the timing chain, and O2 sensors as well.

I'm gonna take a wild stab in the dark, and guess that is actually 92000 miles?

You plenum is blown.
Your O2's are shot.
