Yeah haha I wanted to do a 3 inch leveling kit because my rearend Is soooo high lol. That is higher on the list before a suspension lift. I felt the pain of no leveling kit when we were gf through a dry channel in a field with a hay rack and I almost bottomed out on some boulders in the front. But my rear is pretty good.

+1 on Merc's suggestion to check compression. you don't want to pile a lot of time and money into an engine that is not long for the road.

If it tests good, you may want to consider adding a new double roller timing set when doing the intake (plenum). Another add that will make a difference in HS 1.7 rockers. Costs about what facny valve covers will cost, but offers more performance value.

# P5249935 it's what I use and I would use nothing else on a 96. Gears would help a little chances are you have 3.55 going to a 3.92 would help. What size tire's do you have on this beast?
With stock tires 3.55's are best for mileage unless you have bigger tires, then you might need 3.92s just to have the power to get going. 3.92's with stock tires will turn more engine RPM to do the same amount of work thus reducing mileage.

My brothers '69 Camaro with 3.08's would turn 140mph like nobodies business at 6,000 Rpm then he swapped in 4.11's and it would only do 126mph at 6,000Rpm but it got there VERY quick lol. Your fuel efficency really goes down unless you make up for the gear ratio with your tire size, which in that effect puts you back at square one. 3.55's are plenty good for a Ram with stock size tires.
