Default sluggish truck

Hey guys I got a 5.9 360 with 160,000 miles, has been a plow truck since day one so has some hard miles. I do have some mods on the truck like SCT tuner, cold air intake, headers 3inch dual exhaust with a magnaflow cat, it does have 35s on it. I'm not expecting a rocket but it just seems like the truck cant get out of its own way. I was just wondering if there was anything I need to replace, or something. Just curious why it is so slow. Thanks

The 35s are most likely the culprit. Solution: 4.56 gears or smaller tires. And dual 3" exhaust may cause you to lose some bottom end due. For these trucks, 3" single or 2 1/4-2 1/2" duals is plenty. Unless youre making like 500+hp, dual 3" is overkill for a NA engine.

What is the condition of the intake manifold plenum gasket? If you don't know, then read the Sticky thread about it. Higher chance of that being the cause, plus a clogged cat. Last tuneup was?

Prolly wouldn't hurt to do the timing chain and gears while you are in doing the plenum....

just had the tune up done about a month ago, I have 4:10 gearing right now. How hard is it to replace the timing chain and gears? and how much $$$? Not sure about the plenum gasket but it is not losing a lot of oil if any, and the cat is brand new.

It's been worked hard as you say. Do a comp test before spending cash, see what shape the motor is in and go from there.

Depends on your level of mechanical ability...but the timing chain and gears are not hard as long as you have a good harmonic balancer puller...might as well look at putting a new water pump on while youre there. The plenum can be done for fairly cheap and is not difficult either, again assuming you have some ability with wrench-turning and none of your intake bolts break off in the heads. I think you can still find the aluminum plates on ebay for around 100 bucks (or from hughes engines) and here's a good timing set:
