Default 1999 46RE with P0753 code

Im moving this thread here.

Problem no 1st or OD can shift manualy from 2nd then to 3rd to drive it. No OD while driving. Have to put into 2nd to take off.

Code P0753 on scanner.

what ive done so far.

1.Relay is new and tested good. getting 12volts to relay socket.

2. Tried testing pin 21 of the white plug (female) that goes to the tranny get nothing here. with truck off. Do i need to have truck running? and what am i looking for at pin 21 OHMS or volts? and how much of each?

3. took out relay and drove it. no change at all wouldnt this mean the problem is before the tranny?

Is there a way to test the solenoids outside the tranny? like at the white plug that goes to the PCM? i thought all the solenoid wiring went to the pcm via that white plug.

"Hey you" told me to check the red wire going to the 8 pin plug at tranny havnt done that yet. again no power,engine running,key on engine not running????

any ideas??

PCM controls O/D solenoid by switching its ground on and off. If you test for power on it's control circuit, you should see 12 volts. (engine running) Same for TCC. They get power from the common 12 volt feed. (red wire on 8 pin connector.)

HY im not getting 12v on the red wire at the 8 pin. im only getting 0.05 v engine running and in park.

on the socket where the relay goes I`m getting the following volts. (trk running)

86=0.09
87A=0
85=12v
87=0.04v
30=12v

Here is little lesson on what the pin number represents and good general understanding of how the relay functions.

Ok little test, you could pull the relay out and run a jumper from 30 to 87 and see if that works.
Or you can try running a jumper from pin 85 to ground with the relay in and see if that works.
Have you tryed swapping another relay into its place?

yes tried 3 different known good relays. ill try jumping 30/87 like you said. according to the wiring diagram 87 goes to the 8 pin plug on the tranny and should be 12v. and im only getting 0.04 then there something in the wiring. dam I hate wiring! thanks Dave

Dave you did it. the jumper between 30/87 worked. all coeds and lights went away and it drives normal. now the question is wheres my problem? is it in the PDC or somewhere before that im thinking under the PDC where all the wires go in?

Probably one of the connectors for the relay is corroded, or loose. Have a look at 'em, and see what's up.
