i figured that would give me an engine light unless I’m checking the connector wrong?

Should show five volts on one wire, whenever ignition is on. If it doesn't, I think you found your problem, now just need to find the source.

okay so it is getting 3.7 volts still won’t shift unless the 8 pin is unplugged and I manually shift
I actually have no clue what to do or try.
trans relay is good sensors are good both input ajd output I’m just
lost already replaced trans solenoid and sensor inside pan. I’m lost. It only shifts with that 8 pin unplugged and it shifts smooth.
it’s never once had an issue until I put a rear abs sensor in and that doesn’t make any sense to me.

5 volt feed is directly from the PCM. Check a couple of your other sensors, see if they are getting the full five volts.

i checked the abs sensor
also check throttle potion sensor both are at 5 bolts. I may have had a crappy ground for the speed sensor but I am getting voltage and my scanner with live data shows the speed is working also my speedometer is working.

Don't watch any video on how to adjust bands on the RE or RH transmission. You don't need a torque wrench either. Loosen the nuts and adjust the band lever till you have 1/4 to 1/2 inch free play. Then tighten the nuts.

I adjusted bands replaced govenor pressure and the sensor as well
I also have replaced output speed sensor and rwss and nothing is working
it all began as soon as I changed the rwss before that was replaced it never had one issue. Never slipped never shifted weird etc just drove it to my shop fixed it and when I left it wouldn’t shift at all I’m stuck in first unplugged the 8 pin plug and it shift manually but that’s it.
so I got a code for output speed sensor and replaced that hoping to fix it and it did not.
I checked for voltage and there is voltage a little low but there is voltage. I’m just completely lost now.

Let start from the beginning, What type of problem are you having? Do you have a scanner or test light, power probe or DVOM? Engine size and year. Thanks.

okay I have a regular obd2 scanner I also have a dvom.
may first I threw an engine light for a rear wheel abs sensor (top of differential) so I drove it to the shop and it was shifting perfect I parked it and replaced the sensor. As soon as I left the trans was completely stuck in first gear drove about 1/8 mile that way and finally kicked into second at about 3700 rpm (rough shift had never done it before) then every gear after was butter even overdrive. Drove all the way home shifted fine 1st second etc.
about half way home it thew an engine code.
I got home checked the code this time it said “output speed sensor” so I replaced the speed sensor. Since then it never has shifted again at all even when manually shifting I’m 100% stuck in first gear now. I tried 3 different speed sensors all were brand new. Plus the check engine light went away after replacing the sensor. So on top of the transmission I unplugged the 8 pin connector on drivers side and then I could manually shift 1st second 3rd all 110% smooth shifts nothing abnormal at all. I plugged it back in and talked with hey you. I was recommended to change the governer pressure solenoid and the sensor. So I did that. Dropped the pan changed both parts no metal shavings in the pan fluid was clean. Re installed the pan and filled with valvoline atf+4 when I did that it made literally no difference at all. So I started checking voltage at the output sensor it had 3.7volts (may have had a crappy ground but nonetheless had voltage.
I checked the tps... 5 bolts.. checked the rear whee speed sensor 5 volts
Checked output speed sensor for ohms had 1.3 ohms checked the rear speed sensor 1.4 ohms
Then I checked transmission relay.
I even unhooked the battery for 24 hours to try to reset all electronics. Absolutely nothing is working. But if I pull that 8 pin connector off it shifts awesome. I’m totally lost.

Check your two wires going to the output sensor. The wires do break inside the connector. Or replace the connector with a repair kit. Since all your problem started with the output sensor, that is where I would start.
