I have a 99 ram 2wd 5.2 with a 46re.
I am having a transmission problem. it shifts ok into all gears. if I get onto the power it just reves up and slowly picks up speed. it just started doing this before this it picked up speed quick.

Sure its the trans? If it is you can always try tightening bands for the heck of it.

Clutches/bands are slipping. You can try an adjustment, but, better start saving your pennies for the rebuild that is coming.

+1 Check the band adjustments. Also check the spring for the kick down lever.

Procedure is in the FSM you can download from the FAQ/DIY section. Front band is adjusted on outside of trans., the other one, you have to drop the trans. pan. Easy to do really.

Better torque converter.
Sonnax Sure Cure. (shift kit, sorta.)
Additional cooler. (if you don't have the towing/heavy duty package, and already have one.)
Borg warner heavy duty governor pressure solenoid.
Additional clutches/steels.
Heavy duty planetaries. (fix, and six pinion.)
Etc.

There is a nice list on page six of MonteC's trans thread.
