Default Dodge ram 1500 transfer case

Hi I recently replaced transmission in my 1995 5.9 360 dodge ram 1500. The transfer case has a vent line on top of it. The line has a long rubber hose coming off of it with a metal tube on the end of it. I can not find anywhere where this connects!!! Can anyone help me plzz! Thanks

The metal tube in the end of the vent line should be a kind of 'cap', or breather. If it is just an open hole, need to address that. Once you have the correct cap on it, just secure it up somewhere as high as you can get it, and you are golden.

Do NOT just plug that hose. That will blow the seals out in short order. Needs to be able to breath as it heats up/cools down.

Default Same issue.. i think >..<

I believe i am having the same issue with the same line here, was under the truck doing an oil change and found this just dangling there.. Could not find anywhere (after about 2 hours of searching) that it could plug into. Is this the same vent line you were speaking of?

The other end of the line comes from the top of the transfer case..

Yep, that would be the vent line.

Thank You for searching.

Question

So, Upon re-mounting the vent line this morning i discovered that while it was dangling there it was rubbing against my driveline, causing it to rub a small hole in the vent line about 6inches from the end of the line with the metal attachment at the end. Is this hole something that would be ok for me to repair myself or do i need to purchase a new line?

New line is dirt cheap. It's just vacuum line after all. Changing it out gives the opportunity to get a longer piece, and put the vent further up into the engine compartment, where it will be less likely to suck water, if you go thru anything deep enough.

Ok sweet, when re-mounting should the line be facing upwards or downwards?

Stock its mounted behind the motor with one of the bellhousing bolts.
