Are 1.7 rockers worth the cost or are new heads better? Any material needed when doing the rockers? I don't really want to take the heads off as price is an issue. But if it's better to save for the heads instead. I don't plan on a stroker kit or forced induction ever. And most likely will keep the kegger. Stock cam as well
Also should I change the lifters when I have the intake off. Is that a good maintenance thing at 147000?

1.7 rockers are one of THE BEST "Bang for the Buck" mods you can do. Good for about 10 horseys, and torque. They will transfer to your new heads when you get 'em.

Only thing ya need is valve cover gaskets. (and time......) Can be done with basic hand tools, and a decent 3/8ths drive torque wrench.

When you are in the market for heads, don't neglect Odessa/Clearwater. They have a better-than-stock set of fully assembled replacement heads for around 600.

Do they sell heads with the oversized valves or stock only? I would like to size up a little when I do new heads. And what about my lifters. Is it a good idea to change them? I'll already be in there

You can get 2.02 heads (1.92 exhaust, I think) for around a grand for an assembled pair. Keep in mind, that doing rockers, and heads, is going to throw the PCM off..... and you will pretty much need a custom tune for that.

Will the pcm work well with 1.7 rockers, headers and exhaust, the kegger mod, and 180 stat?

And is there a reasonably good cold air intake or ram air? As the stock intake sucks cold air through the fender I would imagine it's fairly good. Truck used to have a k&n but it split. I did notice it quiet down a pinch back to factory intake but gained a little low end torque with the k&n replacement filter over the k&n intake.

A good drop-in, high flow air filter is all you need. ALL of the CAI systems on the market draw air from the exact same place as the stock unit. There is no improvement to be had there.

Will the pcm work well with 1.7 rockers, headers and exhaust, the kegger mod, and 180 stat? Or would that require a tune

Should be fine. I see you are in florida... so, the 180 stat shouldn't be an issue either.

Truck runs around 190 according to the gauge now anyways. Even highway acceleration or sitting at lights. I may look into adding a secondary electric fan for the a/c as the shroud around the condenser is missing. Any easy way to tie a relay in to the a/c fan control switch on the cab? I would imagine the compressor relay might be good to tap a relay with for an electric fan?
