But the speedometer and tach being off wouldn't cause it to shift wrong would it.. The pcm is reading the correct idle and speed, it's just the gauges are showing wrong.. Correct?

I should be able to drive around with no gauges at all and it still should shift right because the pcm is getting the data, the gauges just show the data

New symptom; 98% of the time after it shifts from 2nd to 3rd gear after it hits 3000 rpm, it will go in 3rd fine then down shift into second for 1 second, then shift back into 3rd and then over drive

Are you stepping pretty hard on the gas during those times? I live out in the sticks, where speed limits are all over 50mph, and my truck rarely sees even 2500 RPM.....
