Need help with 46re transmission
Well I kinda have to in order to get up to speed or else it won't shift. If I try to ease it into the next gear, it revs higher than 3k. If I go to half throttle it shifts at 3k from 1st to 2nd then 2nd to 3rd, then most of the time it will down shift back to 2nd for 1 second exactly then shift into 3rd then 4th like normal
I was thinking that through the whole thread. In my experience where you get the sensors makes the difference. The sensors from Ebay or other online retailers I have always had issues with even if they where "new". Once I got lubed at the dealer for the parts everything always worked fine.
I've adjusted the TV cable properly according to the manual and I've adjusted it all the way in and all the out just see if it would make a difference and it didn't. It still shifts the same no matter what I do. I thought it could be a bad dash cluster, so I took it out and drove around; still the same. I'm thinking either bad "new" censors or bad pcm
Like i suggested before you need to see what data is coming from the trans sensors into the pcm. This will tell you if the sensors are at fault or there is another issue. If the pressure sensor is giving the pcm sporadic readings that would explain a lot.
It the rebuild experience with My own 46RE, I opened it for pretty much everything but the off gauges mentioned.
Bad, went to worse, and worse went to Hell before it was all over.
Before I got around to opening it up it was at 4K 1-2 shift, and No 2-3 or 3-4 shift without popping it in N and back to D.
If you are at this time still having issues, read My rebuild thread.
I now since the last post have a Spunky Ram that has No issues with breaking the tires on pave punching it in the Go pedal like it's a Charger... (just a bunch of other 188+K Mi related issues)....something before rebuilt in could Not Do without some sand to get 'er started.

Need a scanner that will read the data, and display it for you. I *think* most of the code readers that parts stores have will do some of it...... very limited display though. Being able to watch governor pressure while accelerating may be enlightening.
HeyYou has the right idea, but if you don't have the time or dime to run out and get a respectable code reader or get the vehicle operating enough to get read for free at autozone or advance auto (probably every other small time no name shop as well)
You can get a fairly accurate read from the CEL codes displayed in your would be otherwise ODOMETER display.
To display ANY stored "P" or PROBLEM codes, you simply insert the ignition key, turn it full forward to the point be fore starter engagement and back to the off position 3x back to back without pausing.
ON the 3rd Roll leave it forward, and watch the OD display.....if the ECU has stored codes it will read them off and finish by displaying "dOnE" and return to the normally displayed Odometer read out.
