Yeah add that to the lists of engines current to rebuild... which engine would you recommend? The 5.2 or 5.9?

John, has the engine fuel mixture issue been solved by changing the computer.

Though I was just thinking, could either the fact that is got true duals and only one o2 sensor so technically the computer is only measuring one bank of cylinders cause the imbalance or the fact that it's burning so much oil causing it to run lean causing the computer to add more fuel trying to compensate?

I would always advocate for the larger engine.

Reading only one bank shouldn't be a problem. If it is still running too rich, you really need to find out why. It *might* be the O2 sensor.... but, given that it's fairly new, I don't think so.

You REALLY need to be able to look at data, and see what is actually happening. Being able to see just how rich the PCM is trying to run the motor could be quite enlightening.

The only reason I said that about the oil is bc my neon burns oil and after awhile it fouls the plugs and causes the engine to throw a lean code. But in order for me to see how lean the computer is trying to run it I'd need a actual factory scan tool won't I?

Nope, just one decent enough to read data. Unfortunately, I don't think any of the aftermarket PC-based fellers can get that specific. One of the parts store code readers might, but, they don't display a whole lot of data at any given time.

Maybe it's worth the $100 or so to have a mechanic read it at his shop?

So I know it's been awhile since I last posted, but the computer appears to have been the issue. Today however it's the first really hot day we've had speaking in the 90s and truck drove fine till it warmed up temp gauge went above half way which it's never done, never overheated or anything but also when coming to a stop the oil press light would flicker yet the gauge showed let's say 30psi still within acceptable range and it's blowing smoke no matter what now used to be only if it idled for several minutes. I still haven't replaced the plenum gasket as life has kinda gotten in the way but does anyone have any ideas or are these symptoms normal
