The sensors are different lengths, as the flexplate/flywheel are different diameters. If it works, run with with it.

 

This has nothing to do with engine but I don't feel like it needs a whole new post and can't find anything on it. Does anyone know what I can do for a speedo. It used to run off the transfer case but now the case that's on the 5 speed doesn't use that method. Can I just get an abs/ speedo combo for the rear diff??? Then just wire it up? Thanks

Yes I still have the old t-case and the speedo assembly and it works. I plugged it in and spun it by hand. I would just swap out the output shaft housing ( or whatever the proper name is ) but there different lengths for some reason. The one that's on there now is attached to the 5 speed and is about 6 inches longer than the other t- case which was attached to an auto. Don't know why they'd be different. And also if the drive shaft has been changed to.

 

There is also the matter of the gear on the output shaft itself. I don't know if the splines are there on the newer versions...... wouldn't hurt to look I suppose.

Not completely sure. I'll look when I get home. I think the t cases are the same length. The auto tranny and manual look pretty identical except it looks like there's and extension type box after the tranny and before the t case on there now. Is that an overdrive? Pretty clueless to this kind of thing as I've never rebuilt a tranny. I have done motors and t cases though. My dad's truck is a 99 and reads off the rear diff ( pretty positive ) and I can get the whole set up for only like 35 bucks so I think I'm going to try that out.

 

Probably just an adapter for the t-case, as opposed to the extension housing for the 4x2 flavor.

I *think* the manual trans is a couple inches shorter, but, not 100% sure on that. If the t-cases are the same length, just take the input shell from the manual trans t-case, put it on the original, install it, and get your speedo back.

Ok so if the transfer case measures the same from where it bolts to the tranny/ adapter as the Auto does, the output ( driveshaft input ) housing length shouldn't matter?? It doesn't hold force or pressure of the driveshaft? I just don't want to seriously damage drivetrain parts. Thanks.
