Hey guys, I matched the old timing marks and exactly as the new set and decided to check the book before I button everything up. However, the cam “dot” is on the bottom in the book, but mine is at the top. So, am I not at true TDC? Piston 1 number is pointing to TDC and my compression guage was showing compression. So, am I wrong or is this normal? I don’t it jumped 180% out of timing and it would still run right?
See where the distributor rotor is pointing, should be pointing at number 1. With the dots together, as shown in the pic, number 6 is actually in firing position.
I put the chain exactly where it sat previously and turned it 180 to get the dots to line up, but it’s not point at 1.

Thanks everyone, it’s all fixed now! I notice a small gas leak coming from the top of the gas tank. Is this a common problem? Do guys lift the bed or drop the tank?
Thanks
