Hello all. New here and in need of some help. 01 ram 1500 5.9. No heat..I pulled the return hose from heater core and starts engine. Coolant flow is good. Sup Im guessing the core is not plugged. I also removed blend door actuator and manually turned to hot, still nothing. It will blow hot for a few seconds when first turned on. Thanks for any help. This is my first dodge and i love it. 3rd owner and everything else works..super clean

 

New tstat? Do the simple stuff first then do the heater treater and last is heater core.

If the temp gauge indicates the engine is getting up to temp, but, you still don't have heat, I would take a look at the little motor on the bottom of the heater box that controls the blend (temp) door. There is a plastic coupler that is notorious for breaking, so the motor doesn't actually move the door. Do a search on 'heater treater', you will find the fix.

 

Thanks for reply buddy. I did check blend door. I actually removed motor and turned by hand and still no heat. Engine temp gets to like 170ish. Both heater hoses hot. I removed the return line from heater core and started motor. It does pump through. When i first turn it on i get about 10 seconds of heat

 

Air pocket in the heater core? Or the core is partially blocked?

 

i guess it could be air pocket. I had a gmc that always had bubble sound in heater core but still heated. Gonna try flushing again and new stat. Thanks 4 reply!

 

Go to your local Walmart and buy a flushing set ($15 for ends that go on a garden hose) and reverse flush and regular flush the heater core. If you are getting good flow you know it's not blocked. If you still don't have heat it's either air in the system it a blend door.
