Default starting issues

hey folks my 5.2 is having some starting issues will not activate at the relay to turn the engine over. new relay and starter. as of now AutoZone thinks its the wiring between the switch and the relay. I'm praying its not that because I really hate doing wiring. if anyone has any simple solutions short of running an auxiliary push button please share. right now I'm starting it by running wire straight from the battery to the positive side of the relay. also windows wont roll down... not sure if its a connected system or not.

Might want to check the neutral safety switch.

With key on, should be power on two wires at the relay. Is there?

You can get a cheap test light. ...the kind that looks like an icepick with a long wire and an alligator clip. They are very useful and might be enough for your adventure here. But a voltmeter is a very good investment. I use one professionally. Along with a couple of expensive ones, I got one from harbor freight for around $35 and its totally adequate for anything related to automotive repairs and home wiring.

I’m actually having the same exact problem right now in my thread. I as well replaced the starter and ignition switch, still no start. Someone said to put a screwdriver between the starter terminals and that worked. I’m about to run a push button start off of that too. Weird thing is that my windows do not work either right now. If I figure it out I’ll let you know as well

Check out Jaw91097's thread for pics of the PDC under the hood, and which terminals on the starter relay are which.

Also, apparently, I was incorrect, depending on the year of your truck...... The ignition switch sends power TO the control side of the relay, from there it runs to the neutral safety switch, and then to ground.

I second the neutral safety switch test. Pop the truck in Neutral and try starting.
