The one below the white connector comes off. There is a tube at the back that goes over top of the intake to the right side fuel rail. That one does not come off. My fuel rail bolts are 1/2" just checked.

 

Ok. Thank you! I'm gonna remove the intake, even if it's not necessary just to have more room and a better look at things(I've seen guys say it is necessary to remove the rails).

 

So I just saw a video on a different vehicle(Ford I think)and the dude removed the fuel pump/system fuse, then started the engine to burn off fuel in the system. Good idea or bad?

 

It is not necessary but if you do it would be best to check the plenum and do the timing chain as its only a few more bolts

 

Do you mean replace the plenum gasket and timing chain?

 

Correct. If the plenum hasn't already been done, it is highly likely past time for it to happen. (common problem.) And if you are over 100K miles, the timing chain is likely rather sloppy. Both are recommended repairs by the experts here.

 

Yes replace the plenum gasket and use shorter bolts, most also do an aluminum plate and replace the timing chain with a Cloyes Double Roller.

 

Thanks to you and Hey You for the advice. Money is really tight right now, so I'm just doing the injectors.

What are your thoughts on removing the fuel pump/system fuse and running the engine until it dies, removing fuel from the lines? I've never done that before.

 

Not a bad idea...... gasoline spraying everywhere isn't any fun at all. Just yank the fuel pump relay, and the fuse, in the PDC, crank the engine, if it starts, let it run till it quits. Doesn't hurt to be safe.
