I wouldn't be surprised if the new valve body didn't solve your issues. Just make sure it is for the correct year.

also the new valve body isn’t the same year, it came from a 2wd 46re that I think was a different year I’m pretty sure, it did the same thing in the old trans

You re-used the valve body from the old trans, in the rebuilt feller, right? If that's the case, and the problem remains the same, replace it. Get another one.

ok so it’s like this. I messed up the original trans. Took it out. Bought another one to put in it. It only had first and reverse and if it caught second it wouldn’t doen shift. So I took the stock trans and rebuilt it. Put it back in but put the valve body from the first and reverse trans that wouldn’t downshift and put it in the rebuilt one. So that’s why I believe it’s not downshifting.

Still have the original valve body??? Might be interesting to clean that one up, install it, and see what happens.

Sounds like a plan. 50 bucks is a LOT cheaper than I expected them to be.

yea new ones are 10 times that, the reason I’m getting it so cheap is because it’s the same guy I got the tail shaft from. He had completely rebuilt the trans and when he went to put it back in he broke the entire top of the bell housing off using impacts. So he’s just fed up with it. That’s how I got an entire rebuilt tailshaft for $50 as well.

Ok so the plot definitely thickens, yesterday I dropped my pan and valve body to replace valve body and find this on the magnet.... what in the world is this. I can also say that the arm that goes to my low reverse band was really loose and out of spec, all though I still had reverse...
