Didn’t get anything in the ~10 miles we drove it with the California pcm stuck in open loop. We’ll see what happens with the next one. If it does complain there are several shops around me that should be able to program it, too.

So, been a bit. Original junkyard that sent the California pcm said they would send another. A week goes by, nothing. So I text the guy I worked with before, they haven’t done anything, offered to sell me another one for $280 (double what I payed) or refund, I went refund route. Found one from a truck in Wisconsin with 166k, my truck is 156k. Went ahead with that one, works great. Doesn’t show the bank 2 sensors like the California pcm did so it’s a federal computer. No lights after several hundred miles, had an evap code for a bit that the old computer with P0601 mustn’t have been able to see. Got that dealt with, just a couple rotted hoses. Only difference I’ve noticed is the torque converter goes into lockup at 35mph instead of 45mph.

Shift pattern should be 1-2-3-lockup-overdrive. You can get lockup pretty much any time after it shifts into third. Overdrive comes in at 42 or above. (depending on how hard you are stepping on the go pedal.)

Hmm, must’ve been another “weirdness” caused by the old pcm being stuck with the P0601 code. Previously it went 1-2-3-overdrive-lockup. It would lock as soon as it hit 45mph. Only way I could get it to lockup earlier was to put it in overdrive-off, then it would lock in 3rd gear as soon as it hit 35. Hopefully it will get a bit better mpg in town now, since it’s locking at 35 instead it will be in lockup most of the time where before it was unlocked and probably 500rpm higher when not coasting.
