Unplug the 8 pin connector on the drivers side of the trans. Go for a drive, keeping in mind that you will have ZERO automatic function. So, start in first, and up/down shift as required. Also, you won't get O/D, or TCC. If the trans goes into the gear you tell it to, when you tell it to, its an electrical problem. If not..... well, time to drop the trans again.

I disconnected the 8 pin connector and drove it around but my rpm gauge don’t work so it was kinda hard to tell when it was actually switching gears and advice to tell me if I’m doing this right?

I was talking to somebody and it kinda gave me an idea my rpm gauge hasn’t worked since I bought the truck and when I bought it the trans was working fine but I had swapped it from a trans from the junkyard that was working fine for a small amount of time the problem with the one from the junkyard was that it didn’t have the rear diff vss as my truck has 2 so when I rebuilt the original I didn’t think much of it bc I knew the original had the connection for the rear diff vss but when I went down to disconnect the 8 pin I noticed the wires on the rear diff vss don’t look the way they should or at least the way I think they should could u tell me if the could possibly be my problem?
