Default Snow plow question

I have a 2nd gen Ram 1500 and am looking for a plow.

My question is, will plows from later generations work, or are the mounts different?

Mounts will be different.

Not sure if putting a plow on a half ton truck is a good idea though... I know, Lots of folks do it.... but, that still doesn't make it a good idea.

My truck had a plow option. I removed the plow hitch frame from under the truck and sold it, since I no longer had any plans to use it when I purchased the truck. I believe the plow was made by Myers.

I just have a small parking area but it's alongside a road and I'm tired of getting plowed in. Can never get anyone to plow me out either because they're all looking for the big jobs.

Thanks for the info. There are a lot of lightweight plows locally, but they all seem to be 3rd, 4th, and 5th gen, so I'm trying to find out if those mounts are very different from the 2nd gen mounts, or if maybe one of them will work on mine

3rd gen+ frames are significantly different so I wouldn't expect it to work without considerable fabrication.

Snow plow mounts will be different. The factory plow was made by Meyers. The mount setups are even different between plow manufacturers. You should be able to find a used plow/mount setup by checking Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist periodically, especially in areas that get lots of snow.
