Got all the bolts loosened on the pump but ran into a new problem. I run underdrive pulleys on my accessories which I bolted on with 4 bolts on the old pump. The new pump has a pulley that isn't connected by bolts. Anyone have thoughts on what I can do?

Got a few photos of the old water pump that you can share here? To my knowledge, the water pump only comes with the pulley as part of the water pump, but others may be aware of other options.. Wondering if someone installed an LA style water pump instead of the magnum style water pump?

Pretty sure RA lists options without the pulley.

I've never tried to remove the (pre-installed) pulleys.

Preinstalled pulleys are pressed on, and possible tack welded. Look behind the pulley, at the hub it mounts to. Are there any drilled/tapped holes there? If not, you aren't going to be able to change the pulley.

Think it depends on the year of the truck..... earlier trucks had the bolts.

Rock Auto doesn't show a listing for a water pump without the pulley pressed on. On my '96 Ram 2500, the pulley is pressed on and that's all Rock Auto lists on their site. Most of the pulleys on the new water pumps have 4 non-threaded holes on the pulley.

I'd really like to see a photo or two of the water pump that the original poster has that has a bolt-on pulley.

Ok, call up a wp for a '91 Dakota w 5.2. Just make sure this isn't reverse rotation from the Magnums (I'm not sure). Was a '91 5.2 considered a Magnum??

Perhaps the motor in his truck came out of a Dakota. That certainly looks like the water pump he's talking about. The motor in my '96 Ram came out of a later model Dakota, but used the pressed-on pulley on the water pump.. Nice find from your research.
