I'd try SMP (maybe not their T series) or NGK/NTK.

But I wonder who made the NAPA?

I'm going that route this time - ordered two different MAP sensors from two different manufacturers....

Also parts stores don't carry anything for this these V10s, do they? Haha! I mean - they're listed on their websites but nothing ever available at the stores or sometimes not even available for in-store pickup!

I come from old Ford's where pretty much anything you could ever want would be just waiting at the store already so this is lack of part availability pretty strange to me.

I ordered a SMP from Parts Geek
Also picked up a "Standard Ignition" one off a parts store website because they said it'd be here tomorrow... Then got a delayed till Monday update earlier today. Go figure... haha!

They are waiting for the swimmers from china to deliver it.

When I drove chevy's, parts availability was never a problem either. Even 30 year old ones... the parts were sitting on the shelf..... The *newer* stuff (relatively speaking....) with all the electronics and such though. Those parts basically evaporate after 20 years. Our trucks now qualify as antiques. And the V-10's weren't that common to begin with. Won't be long, and the used market will be our only option. I really would hate to have to retire my truck because I can't find a 30 dollar sensor..... That would suck. But, I see it coming....

Yeah... That'll suck when the day comes. It really is unfortunate they didn't make that many of these trucks...

Well, hopefully, a GOOD MAP sensor will be arriving today. Checked the tracking on both sensors I ordered and one was supposedly out for delivery and the other is supposed to arrive Wednesday.

This one is coming from the parts store order so it's the "Standard Ignition" one.
Man, I really hope this is the cure. I've got a sinking feeling that even if this clears the code there's still going to be something wrong...

There's definitely other things that still need fixing - I believe they broke a part of the shift linkage mounting off - I believe it was attached to the bellhousing for the transmission...? When I was messing with the transmission wiring I noticed it looked like something was broken off there and it's right where the shift linkage comes over from the frame.
Anyway - I have to pull the shifter all the way down to past D to get it to come out of park - that gets it in Drive and then have to click it back UP to N and R - which is then nice and tight. Cannot get it to go into low gears. Thought of a few ways I can make my own mount to get in there to stabilize the linkage - it'll be and interesting one to solve....

That's what I was figuring. Haha!

Well, left work at 10hrs to make sure I'd get time to do some testing.
Brand new MAP - I can't get the values to change by sucking/blowing on it... how much pressure should make this thing do something?

Anyway - plugged it in and bolted it down. Truck fired right up! Still ran rough so shut her off.
Backprobed the MAP return line and... 5.5v!? WTF?!
It was .7v sitting there before bolting it down...
turn power off and unbolt MAP - .7v. bolt it back down - 5.2v....
Noticed at I loosened the bolt/screws holding it down it jumped back to .7v... Left things alone there and went to start - didn't want to start at all.... but as it was cranking it'd go up to 1.1-1.2v and when if stop it'd drop down to .7v...

Okay the MAP is responding... but why does it jump to 5.2v when I tighten it? The bolt/screws aren't even close to all the way tight and it jumps... is there a spacer or washers or something that are supposed to help keep the gasket from crushing in on the sensor...?

Anyway - cranked the bolts back down and got 5.2v. turn the key and she comes to life. Still, would dies without pedal assist. Rev the engine more - runs amazing if kept above 1.2-1.5K rpm though some hesitation on the pedal. Doesn't smell quite as rich as it had before...?

Block the pedal at about 1-1.2k RPM and jump on the motor and slowly loosen the bolts holding the MAP down... as soon as the voltage drops below 5v the engine dies. Did this three times to make sure it was consistent... and killed my MAP sensor in the process. Won't read below 5V no matter what now. Looks like an early warranty on this baby! Haha! It was all for science, right? 😂

What could make the engine not want to start at all unless I'm getting 5V signal return? What's the voltage supposed to be at idle?

"Standard Ignition"...? It was one from O'Reillys.
The SMP one is supposedly coming Wednesday...

What do you mean is passing strange? Haha

New PCM is in "quality control" and will most likely ship out tomorrow. Not that we think that's the issue anymore...

Not behavior I expect from a sensor.

Hmm... Yeah, I was pretty surprised to see it jump to 5v just from tightening it down...
Not sure what the deal is there.

I'm curious if maybe the connector could be shot or if I damaged it back probing? I checked one of my other sensors though and it didn't read 5V on the return line when it was plugged in...
Is it unheard of that the gasket/seal could push back into the sensor and cause it to read a false pressure?
