RE: K&N FIPK No More
erikb45, accoding to SilverDodge he noticed some gains. I am sure there are going to be some tradeoffs to both. We will just have to wait and see. I all I know right know is that it was something fun to do this afternoon. Plus I just took it around the block and MAN does it sound goooood!
I would love a set of valve covers, headers, well the list could go on and on. I don't mind spending money on performance and exterior upgrades. But somtimes it's hard to fork out the $$ on something you don't get to see or show off that much. I don't know, maybe this will inspire me.[sm=bling.gif]

RE: K&N FIPK No More
Just a quick update:
Yesterday we had to do a 200 mile round trip to sign the papers for the house we just sold. I thought it would be a good time to take my truck instead of the wife's Sport Trac to see if the new set up makes any difference.
The entire round trip is about 190 miles of Interstate driving (70 - 75 mph) and15 miles of in-town traffic. There is a big improvement in the accelleration and the 'roll-on" power on the highway! I filled the gas tank before we left town andtopped off the tank when we got home so I could get a more accurate MPG calculation than the overhead display provides.
The end result : 13.9 MPG !!!!!!!!! This is an all-time high for my truck and over 2 mpg better than I usually get. [sm=happy046.gif]

Finally had some time to take a few pictures. I'm still VERY happy with the power and increased mpg!

what kinds of performance gains are you getting with this air intake setup, low end or top end, or is it over the entire rpm range?

- The engine hasquicker throttle response such as instop & go traffic.
- There is more "roll-on" power at highway speeds.
- The engine revs a lot faster on hard acceleration.
- And my gas mileage has also improved!
I was also really wondering if this would make a difference and can honestly say it is the best $30 investment that I have put in the truck!
