Default shocking truck

Maybe you guys can help...

Everytime I drive my truck somewhere and go to close the door, I get a nasty shock. I guess it maybe a loose ground wire somewhere, but wiring diagrams do nothing but confuse me and I can't see any obvious problems. On a possible related note, the fuse that goes to my back-up lights is constantly blowing. The time I put a new one in its gone. Any suggestions?????

I am not so sure you have a wiring issue. However, I am going to guess you live in a cold dry climate this time of year. This is a benefit of living in those areas! In the past I have taken a dryer sheet that prevents static with your clothes and rubbed it on the seat. This will prevent it. Or you can spray some anti static spray for your clothes on the seat. Both will prevent it.

i'm also thinking the shock is static electricity.
as far as backup lights, you have a dead short somewhere in the circuit, could be bulb, socket, or wiring. start with inspecting the bulbs and sockets, and try reverse with no bulb installed to see what happens. make sure there is no rusty goop in the sockets. if you've got a multi meter it will help with tracing.

huh...never thought of the static spray. As far as the lights go, I'll get a bunch of fuses and start checking the best i can.... just hope it will be something simple and easy to find.... thanks

Get the Static Guard in the laundry isle at the market. I was having a terrible time with it while working in S. Carolina last week and sprayed it on the seats (mine has covers which may make it worse) and it'll be good to go!

Like walking across a carpet in winter and then touching a doorknob ... *SNAP* ... you get shocked. Sliding across the seat while getting out of the truck causes the same thing. I grab something metal (A pillar) while getting out ... doesn't happen anymore.
