Default SCT Tuning and Seafoam.

Alright guys I'm starting this thread so anyone who has done the SCT tuning can help me out as I am a newbie to most electrical components on the dodge, eventhough I am a general electrician. Anyway, Just bought the SCT DCX "Can" tuning with 9550 tuner from HemiFeverTuning.com. He recommends seafoaming the system before tuning, so that will be done this weekend.

Here is my plan thus-far:

1)Seafoam 1/2 can into brake booster line slowly until stalling (add other half to gas tank???), Then turn it on, warm it up, and burn all the crap out.

2)Drive for a couple days and note how it has helped (205K miles and no cleaning other then Plenum Plate)

3)SCT Tune First 87 Octane tune, Fill up with 87, drive 300 miles, record MPG, and any response I feel.

4)SCT Tune 91 Octane tune, Fill up up with 91, drive 300 miles, record MPG, and any response I feel.

5)SCT Tune 93 Octane tune, Fill up with 93, drive 300 miles, record MPG, and any response I feel

Any suggestions from anyone on tuning, seafoaming, or anything I may encounter that has made you say "DOH" let me know please. Thanks guys! Hope you enjoy the show

Have you done the plenum mod yet? If not, I would seafoam, do mod, then start tuning.

I would not seafoam a blown plenum if you plan on fixing it. No use thinning that oil and buildup in the intake and getting that onto the valves and into the combustion chambers.

Before you do the SCT, get an aluminum plenum plate and fix that first. Otherwise the tune will not make a difference if you have a blown plenum.

Back to the original question people. I said 205k and no cleaning OTHER then the plenum plate. I did my research on here and replaced it with a hughes kit . Just trying to get input on seafoam and SCT Tuning and looking for anything i may run into that may cause me headaches. Thanks again guys

I used a whole can down the brake booster line....... (my intake was REALLY nasty when I did that part.....) I am planning on doing it again here in the not so distant future.

I look forward to seeing your results on the SCT testing.

I had my teenager hold engine idle is about 1200 rpm, and let the hose suck the can dry....... just be careful how far you stick the hose in, its really easy to stall the engine.

doesn't the truck have to be on when you put it in the booster? do you slowly pour it in until it does stall and THEN crank it again?

You pour the amount you want in it, very slowly, so it doesn't stall. Then shut it off and let it sit.
