Resonator removal
Hey guys I have an 08 Dakota 3.7 and i just got a muffler swap done today for it (Flowmaster 40 Series). For some stupid reason the guy sold me on keeping the resonator on and seeing what it sounds like after the swap and go on from there for if i wanted it on or not. Well i got it done and i'm pretty sure i want it off now but im not sure if it will be a noticeable/louder difference. What do you think? Or im also thinking of doing it myself and cutting the pipe right before the resonator and leaving no tailpipe.....

It will be significiganly louder, probably around 50% or so. I did the same thing with my first performance muffler and was very disapointed. The next day the resonator came out and i was very happy. I removed mine with a dremel and a hack saw. You can clamp up a pipe in its place but your best bet is to get it welded in.
Good luck with it.
Good luck with it.

From what others have told me there is a resonator before and after the muffler. Mine only had the one after the muffler but I had it removed when I had my exhaust put in. Here is a post in another thread where jkeaton talked about them on his. He had pics up but removed them. Maybe he will post them again if he sees this thread.
