so, i go to start my truck this afternoon to go out cruising....she won't turn over, deader than a doornail (as my dad would say)...i'm like, crap i must have left something on overnight, but then I have that anti-rundown thing that would prevent that...anyway, pop the hood to check her out, first thing I do is make sure the battery connections are good, grab the negative side and the clamp just comes right off the post, looser than heck...anyway, I get that fixed, start her up and proceed to drive away. First stop light I notice something right away...smooth idle!!!!! also notice what seems like better shifting, more power....is that possible?? Did I somehow clear out the computer so it is starting out like from fresh or something? I swear, even with the flowmaster, I can hardly hear it at idle it is so smooth. It used to lope like it had a big cam in it when I would come to a stop. I guess eventually it will start again, but if it does, I will just disconnect the battery overnight again. Anyone have any thoughts? Experiences?
Sounds interesting Keaton! I bet there will be about 50 dodgeforum members going out and disconnecting their batteries tonight after reading your expereince! lol just kidding! Thats great it fixed some things for you, hopefully it stays that way.
If the battery is disconnected more than an hour it resets the PCM. Another way is to disconnet the power and ground terminals from the battery and touch them. Either way will give you a reset.
makes sense. what does not make sense is why the thing would run worse over time....at least for mine cause it runs a heck of a lot better now....and brian, i did not know i needed to have anything fixed, figured it was the "nature of the beast"..lol
yup! tickled sh$tless! It's like i spent a whole bunch of money on spark plugs, wires, etc....at least I know what to do now when she starts acting a fit....take her off the power grid for a night....lol
LOL! That is great news. Let me know if it improves your mpg. I love every single thing about these trucks with the exception of mpg. If it helps with that I will disconnect my battery every night if i have too!
