radiator fan never shuts off??
- I have a V6 and I noticed the truck never really reaches full operating temp. But I also noticed the radiator fan never shuts off. Correct me if I am wrong but shouldnt that be cycling. Mind you it is 10 degrees here too so in theory it should almost never run. Can someone chime in here please so I dont look like a complete moron going into the dealer.
thanks. it is a 07 with 48k on it. I took it to the stealership and they said it is mechincal and it never shuts off and the truck is running at normal temp. I have never heard of a fan doing that ever.

So your temp gauge doesn't make it to the middle? Mine warms up just fine and I have had some killer cold days out here. I can hear my fan sometimes after starting up but the sound will quiet down after a couple miles.
I had a fan clutch temp coil (dunno what it's called) rust up once and cause the fan to be stuck half way engaged. But that was on my 18 yr old Ranger. But all I did was soak the coil with PB blast and it started working again.
EDIT:
Here's some info that might help you.

Talks about the fan clutch only, but when reading it I noticed it says that some clutches are designed to stay engaged to help the engine warm up faster... once it's warm it acts as normal. If your not reaching full operating temps then your clutch might stay engaged to keep drag on engine to try to warm it up. Might mean you actually have a stuck thermostat or something.

I have an 08 Dakota SXT V6 4X4. My rad fan runs all the time as well. It also never reaches the normal half way temp. Which I am assuming is not a bad thing. I am in Ontario Canada and its really hot summer right now. Just got the truck last month. Its awesome
