Destroyed my OEM LSD
Well as many of you know a while back I shredded the "C" clip in my stock OEM LSD. It's a 9.25 rear with the OEM "Trac Loc."
Well, we drove to Taco Bueno like we do every Saturday. On the way back my rear end start hoping like I was power braking. I stopped, checked the brakes/brak lines thinking it was the brakes locking up. I poured some water on them and they weren't even hot.
So I started driving again. Got home and when it cooled off I pulled the drums and the brakes were fine. I took it for a drive and the rear started hoping again, and then whining sound began. That told me it had to be something with the diff or gears. I cracked open the diff and the gears/pinion seem to be fine but the diff is nearly locked solid. The good thing is all the parts I've collected for my gears/LSD swap were dropped off at the shop today. So the new Auburn LSD is finally going in, lol, this is what I get for putting it off.
Looks like the clutch pack spring retainers broke and seized the clutch packs.
IMHO Mopar OEM LSDs are garbage.

Dang! Well I hope ya get pics. This winter was my first one without limited slip or 4wd in years. So this will be my next and first mod. My 2wd s10 was amazing in the snow with LSD. This dakota has better tires and is 1000 lbs heavier and I can't keep 2 wheel traction to save my life.
Not to mention I can't drift in the snow like I used to.. boring..
