What protects the ram from dirt and debris? And are there any plans for a cheaper version using lesser quality materials for light duty street use?
the ram doesnt actually NEED protection. its case hardened and theres seals on the housing to keep stuff out and fluid in. you could always cut and modify the boot but the only thing the boot really does is keep grease inside to luricate the crappy ball and socket. heim joints dont need to be protected.
as far as quality. weve used about the cheapest we could find and that we feel comfortable using. we only use 2 types of metal for stuff. DOM and 4130 chromoly (expensive) anything cheaper than DOM would fold under the vehicles weight. and the heim joints are something you really dont want to cheap on. the ones included in the kit id say are about mid grade. the cheaper ones dont have lubricating liners and they cant handle 6 digit psi loads.
I might get a set of these from you sometime soon, I don't know if they are DOT legal for me, but I really doubt the inspector is even going to check much on my truck when I go so I don't care.
Does your truck have strut spacers in this pic? I'm lowering my front end 1.5-2 inches from stock and I'm just wondering if there will be enough thread to align it after installation.
