Hemi Swap 1yr Plan
Exhaust setup will sound nasty with the high flow cats. This Dak will be such a sleeper..did you use brackets to bolt up the e-fan like the other guys? And did you buy the power connector for the hhr off rockauto or just solder it? How long did the swap take you? No more questions sir..
btw I'm on my phone in class so I can't see the pictures good and answer the questions myself. Just aced a test on brakes..

The whole engine swap isn't considered legal in my county, so I want it to be as close to legal as possible. If it passes OBDII readiness test then I'm good.
I kinda wish I had gone to school to be a mechanic instead sometimes, but I like electronics too, aced all 4 terms so far
not bad for married, employed (sorta) and with a kid..
I just got bolts and ran them through the small lips on the outer edge of the radiator, left and right, drilling the lip and hhr shroud where I needed to. I was only able to mount it with 3 bolts, 2 on drivers side and 1 on passenger side.. due to the lower rad hose. It's super solid though, the fan literally "clicks" in to place between the lower radiator edge and upper, with a small amount of flexing. I did trim the "ribs" off the bottom of the fan to get somewhat of a slat that will hold the bottom in even without a bolt, but I bolted it anyways to be sure.
For the wires, I got 12? gauge ends and crimped them on.. they slip right onto the HHR tabs. Boths reds go to it, one to the battery, other to controller. The left side of the HHR plug was positive to battery IIRC. (looking from the front of the truck, not my pics.) I will probably get the HHR connector in the long run though, just to keep a factory look.
The swap took me a few hours, I wasn't in any hurry and stopped a few times. Made a trip to get bolts and what not. I was a little tipsy too.
I also got some garage door bottom weather stripping and used gorilla tape to cover the edges of the fan shroud. I will be changing that to something a little more permanent when I have the rad out of the truck for the swap.
I personally suggest, for mounting the fan, to do it like other people have and not like mine. I will be changing a few things down the road. But it works very well for now.

Performance yes, I mean mostly. Of course, when the engine is cold the visco clutch fan is engaged fully for a minute... that never happens with the efan. WHen you're warm and pulling away from a light and the fan is engaged, slows down the motor a bit... doesn't happen with the efan. It revs at idle A LOT faster, hits the 4k idle limit very very fast. It's a tiny bit easier to spin the tires. I don't see much more at higher speeds such as freeway.
For efficiency, I dunno yet... and probably never will lol. But logic dictates that there is, how much I can't say but I would guess at least 1 full mpg.
Well now I'm rather excited..since the only high RPM driving I do in my truck is flooring it at stop lights and spinning my tires on turns, when it is safe, of course!
It makes sense that it isn't too noticeable at highway speeds..since the engine is being cooled and doesn't need the fan at most times. I might just do a crimp with a butt connector as well at first..I believe that connector was about $16 and I don't think that's quite worth it. Welp, I need to take care of the rear splash guards mod and then its on to brakes and e-fan

I'm ordering a Sir Michaels rollpan.. I wasn't planning to yet, but they just went out of business and were the ONLY ones who manufactured a steel pan for our truck. So its either now, never, or fiberglass.
I can't seem to find 2wd mounts from anyone but mopar, and as near as I can tell they are 1 piece cast pieces from rubber damper to block instead of using the block mounting bracket. Like my 2wd Dakota.
I will have to modify my drivers side, and I can't do that with cast mounts without a separate block mounting bracket. I'd prefer not to modify the frame brackets.
